This is a phase by stage tutorial of how to make a silicone mold. The products utilized are all house merchandise.
Phase 1 Area the sculpture on a mattress of clay. The clay requirements to protect ½ of the sculpture. If this were a plaster mould, the midline where the clay goes up to requirements to be along the maximum points with no undercuts. This is the surface you will make the 1st 50 percent of your mould on.
Phase 2 Easy the area of the clay with a damp brush, then set four 1/4 ” spherical one” long parts of clay on the bed to act as keys for the silicone. Place a piece of clay on the top of the sculpture to act as a pour spout (Occasionally the pour opening will be along the seam line. In that scenario, be certain to leave it open, never ever go over the pour hole)
Step 3 Set a skinny layer of Vaseline on the clay mattress and sculpture.
Action four (Read through and adhere to warning labels on all chemical compounds) Blend one/3 cup of silicone with two tbsp of rubber cement jointly in a bowl. Need to have the texture of peanut butter.
Action five Spread the silicone on the clay mattress and sculpture. Do not cover the best of the pour hole.
Phase 6 Push one ½ square pieces of drywall mesh into the silicone. Recognize that we did not protect the pour gap.

Action eight Include dry silicone with layer of Vaseline. Then blend plaster into a bowl with water, it need to come to feel like pudding when correctly mixed. Then set a slim layer of mixed plaster on the Vaseline coated area of silicone (do not protect pour hole).
Action 9 Move forward to dip 3x two items of burlap in mixed plaster and spot them on the plaster layer from earlier phase. Do not cover pour hole. Even though the plaster is nevertheless soaked, lightly spray the surface of the burlap with h2o and easy out the floor.
Action ten Cut the clay mattress free of charge from your operating floor with anything sharp (never cut in direction of yourself). Turn more than the mold and get rid of clay bed from sculpture. The clay inside of the key slots demands to be taken out as nicely. Clear any remaining clay bits off.
